*sigh*

It's almost 3 weeks that my father has been admitted to the hospital. With 2 maids that we hire to take care of my father ran away, and now he's alone in the hospital. With a bunch screwed up nurses.I have been a witness myself, seeing how the nurses in HUKM works.Very sad.My father was admitted last year to HUKM also.I personally thought maybe it only happens to this particular ward and maybe in some other wards the nurses are probably good and caring.Unfortunately this time in the HUKM-MAKNA ward,it happened again.

When I took care of dad few weeks back in the ward,he complaint that he have a problem urinating. It's the nerve that irritates the bladder. So even when the bladder is empty, the nerve still gives him the feeling that he wants to pee.And he has a lot of sediments that kept blocking his catheter. So at 3am in the morning, the problem arise.I woke up the nurse.Telling her the problem. She also kinda blur. She tried various things but it's not working.Maybe it's time to call the doctor-on-call(or he's probably sleeping and don't want to be bothered with any patient?then what's the point of being oncall?).She didn't inform the doc.And no doc came.Around 4am,it happened again.By this time she's already tired to do anything. It took her such a long time to come to attend to my father, while I'm the one who repositioned my father and adjust the urine bag.And my father told her,it's not his daughter's job to do all this work, since she's sort of trying to get her hands off things.

Well in the morning,I'm not sure if there's any docs that did the ward round.Imagine, the ward was left to the MO's to be in charge and the specialist,we rarely saw him.Once in awhile only he 'timbul'.

Now that my mother has to work. She can't take care of dad anymore,so they hire a 2nd maid to help with dad.Ran away yesterday because the nurses asked her to clean dad up and change his pampers. While my father insisted that he only wanted the nurses to do the job.Because they are trained to do so.Not this maid. How come the nurses can get angry when the maid doesn't want to do their job?And the patient is also requesting the pro's to do their job? So,if we were to leave my father alone without a maid,we can guarantee that he'll get infections because they change the pampers only once in a week(that is if they ever change it) and probably because no one bathed him?Wow!
I think this only happens in HUKM.As far as I saw other government hospitals,it's not as bad as this. Then the message from the director general of the health ministry is really not working.Which is to treat the patient's the same way that we want our family member to be treated?Or they think that only implies to doctors? The same goes to doctors nowadays.I think the value and status of this profession is going into the drain with more people like this working.
